The oldest story of all time is competition
Microsoft has been struggling in this race for a dominant new gen console. With their own take on what they believe should be the primary feature set of the all in one entertainment box in the living room. The launch of the Xbox One or Xbone was a very grand dream with some set backs. Having a persistent online connection because who doesn't have internet right? An always listening and on Kinect for those privacy fanatics. And only digital content with so much DRM that game sharing would become non existent.
All of these set backs and Xbone still managed to sell 4 million units. Their vision has suffered significantly as the growing pains continue. The DRM driven digital content was wiped out within the first couple months of the console’s public release. While the promise to developers that the Xbone would ship with Kinect attached has been reneged on. A price drop from 499$USD to 399$USD was a good decision on their part in order to close the gap between them and their competition.
The only question is what really remains of the original Xbone. Will it be enough to really compete with the PS4 having been picked to pieces so early on in the game. Or was this just a game of survival.rop
